Formal Education and Training
In 1986, Windell moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to attend ITT Tech where he received a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. After working in the electronic field, he decided to return to school to further his education and training where his heart lay - Sports Management.
So in 1991, Windell attended Cornerstone University where he was a member of the basketball team and played for four years. After his playing career was over, he decided to coach basketball. He became the Assistant Basketball Coach at the University. Windell also worked as the head Junior Varsity (JV) coach for two of his four year tenure as Assistant Head Coach.
During this time, Windell had the most wins at the University as the head JV coach. Furthermore, in 1998, he helped coach Cornerstone to a National Championship.

During this time, he also worked for Gus Macker Basketball for seven years as a tournament director. This enables him to further his knowledge in basketball while working at Gus Macker Basketball. His duties included helping local cities run, operate, and organize three-on-three basketball tournaments. Windell was also responsible for maintaining the upkeep of the sports facility.
In, 2012 Windell and his wife and life partner Porsetta created the Rim Shaker Knights (now known as Team RSK) AAU basketball travel program. The program was created to help student athletes develop their basketball skills and pursue opportunities to play college basketball.
