ABOUT
Who We Are
Team RSK AAU Basketball program transforms kids into positive role models and community members. Their mental, emotional, and physical abilities are defined, refined, and cultivated through Team RSK’s basketball practices and tournaments; educational support; and community engagement.
Why We Do What We Do
Our mission is two-fold:
Part 1: To provide the best after school programs, staff and equipment to fully meet the various educational, sports and lifestyle skills training needed to help our youth become positive role models and members in society.
Part 2: To provide positive activities to engage our youth, develop their mental and physical abilities, improve their emotional intelligence, and therefore keep them off and out of the streets.
In addition to providing an excellent value to our youth, Team RSK Basketball is determined to create an unmatched educational/sports atmosphere that will add to the enjoyment and quality of life of every player in our program. Our hope is that through the use of our program, our players’ lives – and their families lives’ - will be enhanced and changed for the good of the community.
Our Program Strategy
Our program strategy is centered around helping students develop a game plan to balance school, home life, and life's challenges through sports, education, and community involvement:
-
We require our players to be actively enrolled in school, and maintain a minimum grade point average.
-
We require our players to participate in our community service projects, creating a sense of pride in one’s work and positive perception within the community.
-
Our staff and volunteers provide positive role models and support system for players, serving as a powerful deterrent to violence, bullying, and other anti-social behavior.
How We Stay On Track
Team RSK was founded in 2012 as Rim Shaker Knights as an answer to the sever limitation of physical activity in schools due to funding cuts in educational budgets. School-sponsored sports programs were, and still are, severely limited in terms of age and range of events.
Many sports programs have not survived the increasing economic pressures placed upon the public school system. Property tax modifications in many communities have also impeded the public school system's ability to offer more than the most basic classroom experiences.
Its programs are formatted for maximum accessibility and affordability for a wide range of families.
